THE CLIFF HOUSE INN PET POLICY

The staff and management at the Cliff House Inn LOVE animals, but we have adopted a no pet policy in consideration of guests that may have allergies. Only qualified service animals are permitted as required by law. Emotional support, comfort, and therapy animals are not service animals unless the dog is individually trained to perform disability-related work or tasks. Any pet brought onto the property, whether declared or not, is a violation of hotel policy and is subject to a $75 non-refundable fee per pet, per stay. If hotel staff observe or discover a pet on the property, the fee will be added to the guest account and charged to the payment method on file without further notice.

NOTICE – CALIFORNIA PENAL CODE § 365.7:

Knowingly and fraudulently representing oneself as the owner or trainer of a dog qualified or identified as a guide, signal, or service dog is a misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in county jail, a fine of up to $1,000, or both.

SERVICE ANIMAL RULES:

  • Service animals must remain under the handler’s control and may not be left unattended in a guest room.
  • They must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered unless the disability or trained work prevents it; otherwise the handler must maintain effective control.
  • If a service animal is out of control and the handler does not take effective action, or if it is not housebroken, it may be required to be removed.
  • Service animals may accompany handlers in public guest areas, including the restaurant, but may not sit on chairs, tables, or other furniture.
  • Guests are responsible for actual damage caused by an animal on the same basis as damage caused by a guest.
At check-in guests may be asked to register a pet. If you, or a member of your party have a disability and are bringing a service animal, we have the
